Bhaisajyaguru, whose full name is "Bhaisajyaguru Vaiduryaprabha Tathagata," is the principal Buddha of the Eastern Pure Land of Vaidurya in Buddhism. He represents the Buddha who dispels calamities, prolongs life, and heals body and mind, and is often revered as the "Great Physician King." He helps sentient beings relieve suffering and afflictions through his twelve great vows. His body is blue like lapis lazuli, symbolizing light and purity. His left hand holds a medicine bowl (or medicine pot), and his right hand forms a mudra. Together with Suryaprabha Bodhisattva and Candraprabha Bodhisattva, he is known as one of the Three Saints of the East, and is one of the most revered Buddhas in Buddhism.
