Narrative:
Yellow Jambhala (Tibetan: Zang La Se Bo, Jambhala) is one of the five wealth gods in Tibetan Buddhism, symbolizing wealth, blessings and wisdom. His image and story are deeply influenced by Tantric scriptures and occupy an important position in the practice of Tibetan Buddhism.
**Story and Origin**
The origin of Yellow Jambhala can be traced back to the fusion of Hinduism and Buddhism. In the Tantric tradition, Yellow Jambhala is regarded as the incarnation of Avalokitesvara, whose purpose is to help sentient beings get rid of poverty and increase their blessings and wisdom. According to legend, Yellow Jambhala once donated wealth to all living beings out of his compassion, and was praised by the gods for this, eventually becoming the God of Wealth.
In Tibetan Buddhism, the image of Yellow Dzambala is usually:
- **One Face and Two Arms**: The right hand holds a wish-fulfilling jewel, symbolizing the fulfillment of all living beings’ wishes; the left hand holds a treasure-spitting rat, symbolizing an endless supply of wealth.
- **Yellow body**: symbolizes brightness and abundance.
- **Sitting on the lotus moon disc**: represents purity and transcendence.
**BELIEF AND PRACTICE**
Practicing the Yellow Jambhala method is believed to increase blessings, longevity and wisdom, and eliminate financial difficulties. Reciting the mantra of Yellow Jambhala or participating in the Yellow Jambhala ceremony can help practitioners gain wealth and inner peace.
The story and image of Yellow Jambhala not only demonstrate Tibetan Buddhism’s pursuit of compassion and wisdom, but also remind people to focus on inner practice and growth while pursuing material wealth.
